Poss FP closure: Thornhead Lane to Aspes Rd
01. Feb 2010 at 23:00

An application may soon be made to close the FP that runs from Thornhead Lane/Leyfield Rd to Aspes Rd/Princess Drive, Liverpool 12, which runs between West Derby Golf Club and the Rugby ground and runs behind the new houses built on the old West Derby Army Barracks.
The Golf Club together with the Rugby Club are looking for support to close this path, which has presented them with problems of anti-social behaviour in the past.
The formal grounds for closure are cited as the footpath is unnecessary as it is believed that the path is unused.
The FP is on the City's Definitive Map, so is currently protected by this status.
My enquiries with some local RA members suggest the path is not really used.
It's condition is not brilliant; it often becomes overgrown and fly-tipped, even though the Council do attempt to keep it clean and usable.
If you have a strong view on whether this path should close on the grounds that it is unnecessary, or stay open because you use it (or you feel it should remain open because it is a DM path), then please write to:
the City Council Highways Team (Mike Cassidy),
Regeneration Portfolio
Municipal Buildings
Dale Street
Liverpool, L2 2DH
Tel : 0151 233 3001
or e-mail to: Michael.Cassidy@liverpool.gov.uk.
There is a period of consultation until possibly after Easter during which the Council would like to hear the views of community members or interest groups.
